Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak received today, Tuesday, reports on the results of the review of the Central Organization for Control and Accounting of the work of a number of government institutions and agencies, which he had requested to review during his first visit to the organization after his appointment as Prime Minister.

The Yemeni News Agency "Saba" reported that the head of the Central Organization for Control and Accounting, Judge Abu Bakr Al-Saqqaf, handed the Prime Minister reports on the audit of the accounts and work of the management of the Aden Free Zone, the Aden Refinery Company, the General Corporation for Ports of the Gulf of Aden, the Yemeni Oil Company and its branches in the governorates, and the Arabian Sea Ports Corporation.

The reports also included the "Yemeni Oil Investment Company, the General Authority for Maritime Affairs, the General Authority for Geological Survey and Mineral Resources, the General Authority for Land Transport Regulation, and the Yemen Gas Company, Marib", in addition to evaluating the tax performance of the Presidency of the Tax Authority and its offices and the Executive Unit for Taxes on Large Taxpayers and its branches in the governorates.

The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the Central Agency for Control and Accounting in supporting the government's approach to transparency and combating corruption as a top priority to protect public funds and hold accountable and correct any financial or administrative irregularities.

He pointed out that the government referred a number of cases to the Public Prosecution for investigation, the latest of which was the case of the Aden Refinery Company, which was referred to the Public Prosecution on October 13, 2024, and directed the continuation of procedures to activate the tools of oversight, review and accountability, to ensure integrity and accountability in all state institutions.

Bin Mubarak directed that the ministries, departments and concerned institutions that were included in the review and evaluation work by the Central Agency for Control and Accounting be notified to respond to what was included in the reports, and to refer serious violations and crimes to the public prosecutions to hold their perpetrators accountable.

He stressed the need to follow up on the completion of the evaluation and review of the work of the remaining government institutions and agencies, and to facilitate the task of the Central Agency for Control and Accounting teams to carry out their oversight role, and to consider any refusal or lack of cooperation as a crime of obstructing the work of the agency, and deterrent legal measures will be taken in this regard.

The Prime Minister obligated ministries, institutions, departments and government agencies to strictly adhere to the laws and procedures in force, and that any financial or administrative violations committed under the pretext of implementing the directives do not exempt them from legal responsibility and accountability.

In this context, he stressed that the government will not tolerate any party that refrains from submitting its financial statements and work results to the Central Agency for Control and Accounting for review, and to work with transparency and responsibility and correct all irregularities, whether financial or administrative.

Bin Mubarak also renewed the government's determination and resolve, with the full support of the Presidential Leadership Council, to move forward in taking practical and decisive measures to combat corruption, activate the rule of law, correct imbalances, restore confidence in the state, its institutions and various agencies, and strengthen them to perform their role in a transparent and responsible manner.

He stressed that corruption in peace is a crime and in war it is high treason, and combating it is a national and moral responsibility in cooperation and coordination with all oversight institutions, to establish accountability systems and combat corruption on transparent and objective foundations, without selectivity.

In turn, the head of the Central Agency for Control and Accounting confirmed that the agency’s cadres and teams are continuing to carry out their work and oversight tasks to complete the audit of accounts and evaluate the work of the rest of the government institutions and agencies, noting the Prime Minister’s vision and keenness to activate anti-corruption tools and strengthen the performance of oversight agencies to carry out their role.
