Residents of a number of rural areas in the Samarah area in the Yarim district of Ibb governorate, in the center of the country, appealed to lift the siege on them as a result of the closure of roads due to torrential rains for five days.

Local sources said that the residents of the "Shu'ub" area, which consists of six villages, have been under siege for five days, after road maintenance threw muddy and rocky waste that cut off the Samarra pass into their areas that lie under the main pass line, which doubled their suffering as a result of the rains.

The residents explained that the road maintenance department sent bulldozers to open the Samara line, but at the same time closed the road to them, as they removed the huge waste to the branch line that connects those villages.

The residents appealed to the specialists to lift the siege on them and open the road, as they were unable to buy food supplies and treat the sick due to the road being cut off until today.

The region faces problems every year during the rainy season due to its location under mountain slopes, as rain torrents cause rock and mud waste to flow into villages, block roads, and cause damage to agricultural terraces.
