Yemen is facing severe droughts and floods, a dangerous combination of disasters for a people already suffering from severe food insecurity.

A human rights official said that the Houthi militia is looting local aid provided to those affected by floods and destroying dams in Al Mahwit Governorate, northern Yemen. It also continues to prevent the work of humanitarian organizations and charitable associations that work far from it, amid the continued suffering of those affected.

Human rights sources in the capital, Sana'a, revealed that the Houthi militia kidnapped 15 citizens from Tihama, due to their participation in a protest demonstration against the militia's failure to deal with the flood disaster that struck the directorate last month.

The organization said it distributed 650 food baskets and 650 shelter bags to affected families in the Hays and Al-Khokha areas.

Security statistics revealed the death of 17 people by drowning, including 2 African immigrants, in drowning incidents witnessed in areas under the control of the legitimate government, during the past week, coinciding with the filling of dams and water barriers in light of the continued heavy rainfall witnessed throughout the country.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees warned on Friday that millions of displaced Yemenis are facing deteriorating conditions as the ongoing crisis in Yemen worsens.
