They die from Israeli bombing, from starvation due to the siege imposed on them by Tel Aviv, and from oppression due to the genocide that has been practiced against them for more than a year. However, recently they have been dying from burning in the flames of Israeli bombing. This is the reality of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Shaaban Ahmed Al-Dalu, a young Palestinian man whose name spread widely on social media platforms, after his body was consumed by fire while he was alive inside his tent in the “Al-Aqsa Martyrs” Hospital in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, as a result of an Israeli drone bombing the tents of the displaced at dawn on Monday.

Al-Daloo (20 years old), displaced from Gaza City, raised his hand as he burned, in one of the darkest nights in Deir al-Balah since the beginning of the Israeli war of extermination on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, calling for help from those present, amidst the inability of everyone to approach, due to the intensity of the fire and the lack of equipment necessary to deal with the huge fire.

The flames devoured a large group of tents for the displaced inside the walls of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, burning 4 displaced Palestinians inside the hospital to death, including Shaaban and his mother, in addition to injuring more than 40 others with wounds and burns, according to a statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

On Monday morning, the displaced people inside the “Al-Aqsa Martyrs” Hospital woke up to the sounds of loud shelling and fires burning in the displaced people’s tents, which caused fear and terror among the patients, the displaced, the medical staff, and the journalists present at the site.

The Israeli army admitted to bombing tents for displaced people in the “Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital” under the pretext that there were militants affiliated with Hamas, which has repeatedly denied similar allegations by the Israeli army regarding its members using schools, hospitals, or civilian facilities.

They burned in front of me

The young Aquarius is a software engineering student who took his first steps towards achieving his big dream of becoming an engineer. He lived a life full of challenges and hopes, but he left it early as one of the victims of the Israeli genocide.

His younger brother, trying to hide his grief over the loss of his brother and mother, says: “My brother Shaaban was a support, a friend, a brother, and a companion on the path. Losing him was not an easy matter, especially since he was slightly injured in a previous Israeli bombing a week ago of the mosque opposite the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.”

Recalling the events of that sad night, Shaaban’s brother says: “At 1:30 a.m. (+3 GMT), the tent where my brother and mother were sleeping was bombed. I was in the tent next door, so I woke up to horrors I had never seen in my life, and I couldn’t do anything.”

With tears of bloody regret, he added: “I saw my mother and brother burning in front of my eyes and I was unable to save them.”

He considered that “the most painful scene that night was seeing him burning in front of everyone without anyone being able to help him. The flames devoured everything, and everyone could not get close because of the huge fire.”

Regarding the fate of the rest of the family members, he explains that they “dispersed and each person is in a different place. My sister is injured and is in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, and my father is also in Nasser Medical Hospital in Khan Yunis (south).”

Regarding the story of Shaaban, who was burned to death, his brother says that he was working hard to support his family, who had taken refuge in a tent inside the hospital walls, after their home was destroyed in previous raids.

Despite all these challenges, Shaaban continued his education online, and he would travel a long distance every day to access the Internet in order to follow his lessons.

All of this was to secure a better future for his family, who were forced to flee the Israeli war of extermination, according to his brother.

But that night, when Israeli warplanes targeted the tents of the displaced, Shaaban had no choice but to try to survive the fire that was faster than him and burned him and his tent, and his dream vanished as his body vanished.

He was reciting the Quran

Days before he was burned, Shaaban wrote a post on Instagram expressing his suffering, saying: “I used to have big dreams, but the (Israeli) war destroyed them, which made me physically and mentally ill. I suffer from depression and hair loss due to the ongoing shock.”

He also expressed his hope for a brighter future for his family and for the children who are suffering from the horrors of war, calling on people to support the cause of the displaced and alleviate their suffering.

Despite the difficulties imposed by the Israeli war and the tight siege, Shaaban remained committed to his dreams. He memorized the Holy Quran and sought to build a better future for himself and his family. He worked hard to help his family overcome the dire circumstances of war, according to his brother.

He added: “A week before his martyrdom, Shaaban was reciting the Holy Quran inside the mosque opposite Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and finished reciting it at exactly one o’clock in the morning. About half an hour later, warplanes launched a raid on the mosque, but he miraculously survived this bombing.”

The Israeli bombing of the hospital came a few hours after 22 Palestinians, including 15 children and a woman, were killed and 80 others were injured in an Israeli raid that targeted the “Mufti” school on Sunday evening, which houses thousands of displaced people in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Since the beginning of the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinians have been facing the suffering of displacement, as the Israeli army orders the residents of residential areas and neighborhoods to evacuate them in preparation for bombing, destroying, and penetrating them.

The ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, with American support, for more than a year, has left more than 140,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people.

Israel continues the genocide, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end it immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
