Is French Real Madrid star Mbappe involved in a rape case?

The Swedish Public Prosecution Service confirmed that it had opened an investigation into a charge of "rape" without naming the suspect, after the country's media directed its arrows towards the captain of the French national football team, Kylian Mbappe (25 years old), who was visiting Stockholm, which the Real Madrid player denied, describing the rumours as "fake news".

The Swedish Public Prosecution Service said, according to a report published by Agence France-Presse on Tuesday, that there is a suspicion of a rape case in Stockholm, and a complaint has been filed in this regard with the police, noting that the alleged incident took place in a hotel in the Swedish capital on October 10.

"In view of media reports of a suspected rape in Stockholm, the public prosecutor can confirm that a rape complaint has been filed with the police," the prosecution statement said.

The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported that the police received a report of an alleged rape without mentioning the name of the accused.

In turn, Expressen newspaper pointed out that Mbappe is the suspect, and stated: "According to the information obtained by Expressen, the police are investigating the French star, who is suspected on the basis of reasonable suspicion that he committed rape and sexual assault," noting that there is no clear evidence so far.

According to the report published by "Agence France-Presse" on Tuesday, the family of the French striker is not aware of any legal complaint against Mbappe at the moment, but his absence from the French national team's two matches in the European Nations League against the Israeli and Belgian national teams has raised questions about why he did not represent the national team. The report indicated that Mbappe visited the Swedish capital last week, and the reason for the visit is still unknown until now.

On Monday, Aftonbladet published on its website photos showing police officers in front of the hotel where the Real Madrid striker and his friends were staying, but without mentioning any additional details about the incident, or whether Mbappe was actually involved in a rape case.
