5 Arab cities among the hottest in the world

Five Arab cities are on the list of the hottest areas in the world during this time of year.

The list issued by the El Dorado Weather website, which specializes in monitoring weather conditions, placed the Saudi city of Mina at the top of the ten regions that witness the highest temperatures during this time of the year.

Four Algerian cities and a spot in southern Iraq were included in the list, according to the website.

While the Saudi city recorded an average temperature of 42.6 degrees Celsius during this time of year, the Algerian city of Ain Salah came in second place with an average temperature of 43.3 degrees.

Three other Algerian cities, all in the south of the country, also made the list: Bordj Badji Mokhtar (40.9 degrees), Illizi (40.4) and In Guezzam (40.3).

Basra International Airport in Iraq came in seventh on the list, recording 40.5 degrees Celsius.

The Iranian city of Ahvaz also made it to the list of the world's ten hottest regions, along with Villa Montes in Bolivia, which recorded 41.4 degrees Celsius, Bilma in Niger, which recorded 40.8 degrees, and Madkwe Reserve, in South Africa, which recorded 40.6 degrees Celsius.

The world is witnessing a significant rise in temperatures, which environmentalists attribute to the burning of fossil fuels and other human activities that increase the rate of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, including carbon dioxide and methane.
