The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), broadcast video clips of a well-planned ambush of a mechanized infantry company east of Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip on October 10.

The Qassam Brigades elements divided the ambush into 3 groups: the support and target stabilization group, the target capture group, and the reinforcement group.

The video showed the Qassam Brigades members planning the ambush and distributing the positions of the participants in the execution, namely the armor thrower, the shawaz launcher, the thunder bomb launcher, and the anti-personnel bomb launcher.

Some elements also prepared explosive devices to target the rescue forces expected to arrive at the site after the attack, while one of the elements was reading a book by Mahmoud Al-Zahar entitled “The Devouring Storm.”

A Qassam member sent a message to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant, describing him as "despicable," and reminding him of his statements at the beginning of the battle when he said: "I see Hamas being defeated."

The Qassam element added: "God willing, by God we see Israel's defeat, and the world will witness your demise, for this land is not large enough for two, but rather it belongs to the Palestinian people, God willing, and we will trample on your necks, either us or you, and the days will tell."

The video showed two Merkava tanks passing, but the ambush perpetrators waited until the jeeps passed, to detonate the explosive devices, then targeted the soldiers hiding behind the vehicles with Shawaaz explosive devices and Al-Yassin shells. The video showed the occupation aircraft evacuating the dead and wounded.

A complex and carefully planned ambush.

Military and strategic expert Colonel Hatem Karim Al-Falahi confirmed that the Al-Qassam Brigades are still capable of carrying out painful operations against the occupation, despite the difficult circumstances and the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.

In his analysis of the operation carried out by the Qassam Brigades east of Jabalia camp, Al-Falahi explained - during the military analysis segment on Al Jazeera - that this ambush reflects "defensive arrangements that were put in place in this area before the ground invasion began."

He pointed out that the operation was "arranged and prepared" in advance, indicating that there were "preparations made by the resistance factions, in addition to a phase of planning."

Al-Falahi added that the ambush included a "mixture of ambushes," including "anti-tank ambushes, anti-personnel ambushes, and anti-vehicle ambushes," and noted the use of a variety of weapons and tactics, including the "detonation of the Shawaaz IED," the "thunder IED," and the use of "tandem shells" to counter tanks.

Regarding the Qassam Brigades’ ability to set up an ambush in an area controlled by the occupation forces, Al-Falahi explained that “the geographical nature of the area and the factions’ knowledge of this area enable the resistance fighters to set up such ambushes,” adding that guerrilla warfare tactics give the resistance “a very great possibility and ability to move in these places.”

They came out from under the rubble

Bloggers on social media said, "After 373 days, the Qassam Brigades are still humiliating one of the strongest armies in the world. After 373 days, they only knelt before God. After 373 days, they are still creating glory and writing honor."

Commenting on the scenes of the ambush and how the Qassam fighters emerged from under the rubble and under the surveillance of the occupation's drones in order to carry out the attack on this force, bloggers reported that despite the aggression, siege and war of extermination waged by Israel against the people of Gaza, the video showed the Qassam Brigades' ability to plan, prepare and execute with precision and professionalism.

Some bloggers pointed out that Hamas used a new tactic in this ambush, which was targeting military jeeps instead of tanks. They explained this change in targeting for several reasons, the first of which was that the jeep’s members were officers and Jews, not mercenaries.

The second thing is that if the pocket is hit, all its members will be killed because there are no large fortifications in it, such as tanks. The last thing is the message that the video carried to the occupation leaders that the price of remaining in Gaza is high and its military rule is more costly than leaving it.
