Israeli media reported the killing of a Border Policewoman and the wounding of 13 people, some of them seriously, in a double stabbing and shooting attack near the central bus station in the city of Beersheba.

The occupation police said that the perpetrator of the operation was killed and that its members were combing the city in search of possible assistants to him, explaining that initial investigations revealed that the perpetrator of the operation was a resident of the Negev and held Israeli citizenship.

The occupation army radio reported that the perpetrator of the Beersheba operation stabbed the policewoman, took control of her weapon and shot the others. The Israeli Ambulance Authority stated that the attack was carried out in two locations.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation indicated that the woman killed in the Beersheba operation was a non-commissioned officer in the Israeli Border Guard.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted the policewoman's mother as saying that her daughter - and soldiers - hid in a bathroom during the Beersheba operation, and that she was unable to communicate with her.

Activists said that the perpetrator of the Beersheba operation is Ahmed Al-Aqaibi from the town of Hura in the Negev, and he is a relative of Muhannad Al-Aqaibi, who carried out a shooting operation at the same location in 2015, which led to the death of an Israeli soldier and the injury of several others.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority announced the death of the policewoman and the injury of 10 others in the shooting operation in Beersheba, before announcing the new toll of the injured.

In turn, Israeli Channel 12 confirmed that injured people were transferred to hospitals after the attack in Beersheba, and quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the attacker was wearing a bulletproof vest.

Yedioth Ahronoth quoted the commander of the southern region of the Israeli police as saying that his forces arrested a large number of relatives of the perpetrator of the Beersheba operation following the attack.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israelis met with Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir in Beersheba, calling for his dismissal and chanting slogans accusing him of failure.

While Ben Gvir said that the homes of those he described as disloyal to the State of Israel should be destroyed, he also called for a law to be passed to deport the families of "terrorists."

Abu Obeida blesses the operation

Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades - the military wing of Hamas - blessed the stabbing operation carried out in Beersheba in the occupied Palestinian interior, which resulted in the killing of an Israeli policewoman and the injury of 13 people.

Abu Obeida said, "We congratulate the unique Beersheba operation carried out by one of our heroes from the occupied interior. Our confidence in the patriotism of our people in occupied Palestine in 1948 is firm and has not wavered. We are certain that the youth of the interior are capable of creating the means to hurt the occupier and support their people in the afflicted Gaza in every possible way."

Earlier today, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) blessed what it described as the heroic operation in Beersheba, saying that it came "in defense of our people and in confrontation with the arrogance of the occupier, which is intent on waging a war of extermination."

Hamas added that the operation is "a natural extension of our people's operations against the brutal Zionist occupier and an expected response to its crimes."

The Beersheba operation comes on the eve of the first anniversary of the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa, which was launched by the Palestinian resistance on October 7, 2023, against settlements in the Gaza Strip, and led to the killing and wounding of hundreds of Israelis, most of them soldiers, and the capture of a number of others.
