American F-22 aircraft (Centcom)
On Thursday, US Central Command (Centcom) announced the arrival of F-22 Raptor aircraft to the region as part of US reinforcements to confront the threats of Iran and groups supported by it.
Centcom said in a statement on the “X” platform: “US Air Force F-22 Raptor fighters arrived in our area of responsibility on August 8.”
The move came as part of the US forces' positioning movements in the region, and to deal with the threats posed by Iran and the groups it supports, according to the same statement.
At the same time, the Breaking Defense website quoted the commander of the US Fifth Fleet as saying that the military arsenal of the Houthi group in Yemen has become more powerful than it was a decade ago.
Yesterday, Wednesday, Vice Admiral George Wyckoff, Commander of Naval Forces Central Command, speaking during a virtual event, said that the Houthis are well armed and have strong, consistent supply lines to Iran, “and they are looking for a reason to use them.”
Earlier, US Central Command said in a statement that the seven rounds of airstrikes - in which the UK participated - required Biden's approval and "destroyed a significant amount of Houthi capabilities," including "dozens of weapons and equipment storage facilities, and numerous facilities." Command and control, air defense systems, radars, and multiple helicopters.”
The American newspaper "Politico" considered the military operation led by the United States of America against the Iranian-backed Houthis in the Red Sea to be "the most expanded and continuous since the air war against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, which reached its peak in 2016-2019 AD."
The United States of America leads a multinational naval military coalition under the name “Guardian of Prosperity,” which was announced on December 18, 2023, with the aim of confronting Houthi attacks targeting shipping ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
