Yemen national team defeats its Omani counterpart in the opening of the 2024 West Asian Youth Cup

The Yemeni national team defeated its Omani counterpart by three goals to one, today, Monday, September 2, 2024, in the opening matches of the first round of the West Asian Youth Championship for Under-16s.
This victory reflects the fighting spirit and great determination of the Yemeni youth team, to begin the campaign to defend its title in an ideal manner, before the decisive match against the Saudi team.
The title holder, Yemen, topped Group 2 with 3 points, while Oman remained without points. The leader qualifies directly to the semi-finals, while the best second-placed team from three groups will be chosen to be in the semi-finals.
The Omani U-16 team will play against its Saudi counterpart in the second round match next Wednesday, September 4, at 20:00 Jordan time. This match will be the opening round for the Saudi team, which will play its second match against Yemen on Friday, September 6.
Prince Mohammed Stadium in Zarqa, Jordan, hosted today's match between Oman and Yemen at 17:00 Saudi time, 14:00 GMT.
