Protest in Marib
A mass rally in the city of Marib, on Friday, denounced the international silence towards the crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip and the continuation of its stifling siege on the Strip since the beginning of its brutal aggression in October 2023.
Thousands of participants in the vigil expressed their extreme astonishment at the continued international inaction and disregard for the ongoing horrific Israeli crimes against civilians in the Gaza Strip. They noted that these crimes and violations are not only a blatant attack on international law and a flagrant violation of international agreements and treaties, but also constitute a direct threat to international peace and security, and a dangerous escalation that is leading the region and the entire world into an undesirable slide.
The protesters called on the Security Council and the international community in general to take immediate action and take serious and effective steps to stop the Israeli killing machine, stop the mass killings against the residents of the Gaza Strip and the systematic destruction of its infrastructure and civilian facilities, break the siege imposed on more than two million people in the Strip, and end this humanitarian tragedy that has continued for the second year in a row.
They stressed the need to intensify international efforts to deliver urgent relief aid to the people of Gaza, and to exert sufficient pressure on the occupation government to secure humanitarian corridors to supply the civilians besieged in the Strip with food, water, medicine and other necessities of life. They stressed that timid statements and repeated declarations are no longer sufficient in the face of the worst humanitarian disaster in the world that all areas of the Gaza Strip are experiencing, especially in the northern part of the Strip.
In a statement issued after the rally, the demonstrators called for the formation of an Arab, Islamic and international coalition to confront the crimes and violations of the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, to continue the comprehensive economic boycott of the Zionist entity and to exert the necessary political and diplomatic pressure to activate international courts to hold its leaders accountable for all their crimes in the Strip. They considered that the failure to hold accountable the perpetrators of these Israeli crimes and violations and their impunity encourages the entity’s army to commit more horrific crimes and violations against the Palestinian people.
The statement pointed out that the Palestinian issue is not just a passing conflict between a steadfast people defending their land and an usurping entity that has gathered from all corners of the earth to establish its alleged state on the land of others, but rather it is a just humanitarian issue related to all free peoples defending the values of freedom, justice and dignity around the world.
