The Houthi terrorist militia in Sanaa covered the nameplate of a famous restaurant because of the name, and gave its owner a week's notice to change it or pay a monthly tax.

One of the workers at the restaurant told Yemen Shabab.net that members of the Houthi militia warned the owner of Al-Sayyid Restaurant in the Sawan neighborhood in Sanaa that the name “Al-Sayyid” would quickly change, which is the adjective the militia gives to its leader, called Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi.

He added that the militia had requested an amount of "70,000" Yemeni riyals per month in exchange for keeping the name, but the restaurant owner refused because he pays other sums monthly to the capital secretariat under many names.

He mentioned that the restaurant, which was famous for its kebab, is very old before the Houthi militia coup, and is older than their leader, and a tour near it was previously named after him.

Pictures showed the restaurant's signboard completely covered by a large tarpaulin in which the restaurant lost its address, which raised the astonishment of the restaurant's customers.

The Houthi militias create various justifications and methods to forcefully impose taxes on merchants in Sanaa and other areas under their control, which prompted many merchants to close their shops and migrate to the liberated governorates.
