A citizen was seriously injured as a result of a landmine explosion in the Nihm district, east of the Yemeni capital, Sana'a.

The Shahed Organization for Human Rights reported in a statement that it received a report that citizen Mohsen bin Ali Yahya Abu Hatem was injured the day before yesterday, by a landmine explosion, while he was inspecting his farm in the village of Al-Mubdi’a, in the district of Ayyal Ghafir, in the directorate of Nihm.

She stated that the landmine explosion caused Abu Hatem to suffer fractures in his hand and face, as well as scattered shrapnel in his body. He was transferred to a hospital in the capital, Sana'a, to receive treatment.

The statement said that the organization received reports during last October about two people being injured and a third being killed in similar incidents in different areas of the same directorate.

The "Witnesses" organization called on the Houthi group to reveal maps of the locations of the mines to ensure the safety of civilians, and to allow the specialized teams to remove them urgently.

It also called on the international community and relevant international organizations to intensify their efforts to remove mines from Yemen, warning of "the continuation of this danger, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws."
