Torrential rains in Yemen
The National Center of Meteorology expected, today, Saturday, that heavy thunderstorms will continue to fall on several governorates during the coming hours.
According to the daily bulletin of the center, "heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail and descending winds are expected to continue on the Tihama plain and the coasts of Hajjah, Hodeidah, Taiz and the highlands of the governorates of (Saada, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz and Al Dhale'e)."
Thunderstorms of varying intensity are also expected in the governorates of (Al Mahrah, Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Al Bayda, Abyan, Aden, Lahj, Al Jawf and Marib).
Citizens in areas where rain is expected to fall are warned to stay in valleys, flood paths, and cross land bridges, and to avoid thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and poor horizontal visibility due to rainfall and fog, in addition to rock collapses on roads and mountain slopes.
He also warned of the collapse of mud and popular buildings due to the continued rainfall, calling on the relevant official authorities in the country to take the necessary measures and procedures to protect lives and property and to follow up on the bulletins and reports issued by him.
