Hodeidah: Yemen Youth Net
The terrorist Houthi militia has begun expanding the planting of mine networks in several areas in Al Hudaydah Governorate (western Yemen) after displacing its residents.
The local authority media said in a statement on Monday that the Houthi militia carried out an intensive campaign to expand the planting of mine networks in several areas of the governorate, which poses a great danger to the lives of civilians and threatens security and stability in the region.
The statement confirmed that the militia planted mines in farms and homes in villages whose residents had been displaced, specifically in Al-Jarahi District, the Manzar border area of Hodeidah city, and Ad-Duraihimi District, in addition to some coastal areas affiliated with At-Tuhayta and Bayt Al-Faqih districts.
He added that this campaign is taking place at a high pace around the clock, as the militia seeks to turn the lands located on the coastal strip and the areas of contact with the joint forces into vast minefields.
The local authority indicated at the end of its statement that the latest statistics that have been documented indicate that the victims of Houthi mines in the governorate have so far reached 945 martyrs and more than 1,500 others have been injured, most of them women and children, noting that many of the injured suffer from permanent disabilities and deformities, while recalling the existence of other numbers of victims that have not been counted due to the militia’s control and concealment of the situation in the areas it controls.
A few days ago, the local authority in Al Hudaydah Governorate revealed that the terrorist Houthi militia had displaced 6,250 citizens from the Al Hawak and Al Jarrahi districts during the past few days, in addition to 350 people who were displaced earlier this year from Bajil district.
