Landmine planted by the Houthis in Hodeidah

The Human Rights Office in Al-Duraihimi District in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, west of the country, monitored today the injury of a child with serious injuries as a result of a Houthi mine explosion, while he was returning from the coast in the village of Al-Mashahir in the Taif region, which is administratively affiliated with Al-Duraihimi District.

The office confirmed in an official statement that the child, Yahya Muhammad Jaber Yahya Mashhour, aged 13, was seriously injured as a result of a landmine explosion left behind by the Houthi militia, which planted large quantities of mines in areas under its control.

The statement called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to pressure the Houthi militia to hand over the mine maps and remove them, as they expose the lives of civilians to constant danger and cause heavy losses among innocent civilians.

The Yemeni government accused the Houthi militia of planting more than two million mines in Yemen over ten years, stressing that this is the largest statistic in the world since World War II.
