Al-Mawasi is a largely open area, not residential, and extends along the coastal strip of the Mediterranean Sea, at a distance of 12 km and at a depth of one km, from Deir al-Balah in the north, through Khan Yunis Governorate and all the way to Rafah in the south.

A massacre against worshipers
In addition to the Al-Mawasi massacre, on Saturday, Israeli warplanes committed another massacre targeting worshipers in the Al-Shati Palestinian refugee camp, west of Gaza City.

One of the Palestinians said in a video clip he took on his mobile phone after the Israeli bombing: “God is great, they bombed us while we were praying. God suffices me and He is the best disposer of affairs.”

He added: "Another massacre. Where is the world? What do we do?"

For its part, the Civil Defense Service in Gaza announced, in an initial toll, that 15 Palestinians were martyred and dozens injured in the bombing that targeted the Beach Camp.

While the Hamas movement denounced the massacre committed by Israel against worshipers in the Beach camp, west of Gaza City, on Saturday, it considered it a new Israeli crime with full American cover.

The Palestinian movement said in a statement, “The massacre committed by the fascist occupation army against worshipers while they were performing the noon prayer on the ruins of the destroyed White Mosque in the Beach Camp (…) is a new crime added to the series of ongoing crimes carried out by the Zionist enemy against our defenseless people in Gaza.”

She added that this crime, which “killed 18 martyrs and dozens of wounded worshipers and displaced persons in the place.” It was committed by Israel "in front of the world, and with the full cover of the American administration complicit in it."

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with American support, leaving more than 126,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of dozens of children.

Tel Aviv continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
