Closing of exchange shops in Shibam Hadramout

Today, Sunday, the Public Prosecution Office in Shibam Hadhramaut Directorate carried out a campaign to close illegal and violating exchange shops; this is within the framework of the measures it is implementing in cooperation with the Central Bank to limit the collapse of the national currency.

The Public Prosecution said that it had begun closing down the money exchange shops that violated and were not licensed to comply with the legal regulations within the Shibam Directorate, and preparing legal reports to prove that.

The Public Prosecution confirmed that all violators would be referred to the Public Prosecutions to complete the legal procedures for their trial, with the aim of ensuring the protection of the national economy and the stability of the local currency.

She pointed out that this campaign comes as an affirmation of the importance of adhering to the laws and regulations governing the work of money changers, and adhering to the provisions of the Money Exchange Law and the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law.

The Public Prosecution had implemented similar measures during the past few days in Shabwa, Al-Mukalla, Al-Mahra and a number of other governorates.
