He also stressed the commitment of the Kingdom and regional partners to achieving peace through practical steps and specific timetables aimed at ending the occupation and embodying the independent Palestinian state.

Invitation to an Arab-Islamic summit

Saudi Arabia called on Wednesday for a joint Arab-Islamic follow-up summit to be held in the Kingdom on November 11, 2024, to discuss the continued Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories and the Lebanese Republic, and current developments in the region.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that "the summit is an extension of the joint Arab-Islamic summit held in the capital, Riyadh, on November 11, 2023, based on directives from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and in continuation of the efforts made by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in coordination with his brothers, the leaders of Arab and Islamic countries."

The statement added: "Saudi Arabia calls for holding a joint Arab-Islamic follow-up summit in the Kingdom on November 11, to discuss the continued Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories and the Lebanese Republic, and the current developments in the region."

She stressed that "the summit is in light of Saudi Arabia's follow-up of the current developments in the region, the continuation of the sinful Israeli aggression on the occupied Palestinian territories, and its expansion to include the Lebanese Republic in an attempt to undermine its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the serious repercussions of this aggression on the security and stability of the region."

It also affirmed its "condemnation and denunciation of the continuing crimes and violations committed against the brotherly Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation authorities, and the Israeli attacks and violations committed against our brothers in the Lebanese Republic."

After clashes with factions in Lebanon, including Hezbollah, which began after Israel launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the killing and wounding of more than 144,000 Palestinians, Tel Aviv expanded the scope of the genocide since September 23 to include most areas of Lebanon, including the capital Beirut, through air strikes, and also began a ground invasion in the south.

The aggression on Lebanon resulted in a total of 2,792 deaths and 12,772 injuries, including a large number of children and women, in addition to about 1.4 million displaced persons. Most of the victims and displaced persons were recorded after September 23, according to Anadolu Agency’s monitoring of the latest official Lebanese data announced until Tuesday evening.
