G20 Summit Calls for Ceasefire in Gaza, Lebanon

The G20 countries announced in a joint statement issued Monday evening at the conclusion of a summit held in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro that they are "united in supporting a ceasefire" in both Gaza and Lebanon.
The G20 leaders said in their statement, “While expressing our deep concern over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the escalation in Lebanon, we stress the urgent need to increase the flow of humanitarian aid and enhance the protection of civilians.”
The G20 is an intergovernmental forum that is primarily concerned with economic issues, and includes the twenty largest economies in the world, with 19 member countries and the European Union.
