The Iranian-backed Houthi militia has banned the products of the local Arab Cement Company in Hadhramaut from entering areas under its control, as part of its ongoing war on the national economy.
"Yemeni Youth Net" viewed a document issued by the Houthi militia's Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Authority, prohibiting the entry of (National Cement) and (Arabian Cement) into areas under its control, on the pretext that it does not conform to specifications.
According to the document, the Houthi authority directed its branches to withdraw the company’s products from local markets in areas under its control, in an attempt to destroy the local private sector and national industry in favor of imported cement produced by Houthi militia traders.
While the Houthi militia claims that the bags of the Arab Company factory contain incorrect data and non-compliant specifications, affected traders showed other documents indicating that the product conforms to specifications and standards, according to a previous testimony from the Houthi authority, which they accuse of deliberately banning the product in order to make way for another product in areas controlled by the militia.
It is noteworthy that the Houthi militia has been detaining dozens of trucks loaded with the company's products (Hadramout Cement and Arab Cement) for more than a month at a newly established customs port in Al-Jawf, and preventing them from entering the areas under its control, without taking into account the huge losses incurred by traders and transporters.
