Mahra fishermen protest closure of fish factories, demand urgent solutions

Fishermen in Al Ghaydah District, Al Mahrah Governorate, organized a protest today, Thursday, to demand the opening of fish factories closed by the Ministry of Fisheries.

The participants in the protest raised banners demanding that the concerned authorities open the closed fish factories and find urgent solutions to their worsening problem, which is being completely ignored by the officials.

The protesters demanded urgent decisions to open closed factories, adopt scientific studies that would contribute to their continued livelihood, and provide fair alternatives and compensation to ensure the continuation of their source of income.

The protesters stressed that the closure decision directly affected hundreds of fishermen and their families, calling on the ministry’s leadership to reopen the factories and appreciate their living conditions that they have been suffering from since the moment this decision was taken until today.
