Al-Azhar mourns the martyrs of the Palestinian resistance and stresses: Defending the land is an honor, not terrorism

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif mourned the martyrs of the heroic Palestinian resistance on Thursday, hours after announcing the martyrdom of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, in an armed clash with an occupation force in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

In a statement published on its social media page, Al-Azhar mourned the martyrs “who were targeted by the hand of a criminal Zionist entity that spread corruption and devastation in our Arab lands, killing, destroying, occupying, seizing and annihilating in front of the eyes and ears of countries paralyzed in will, ability and thinking, an international community that is silent like the silence of the dead in graves, and an international law whose value is not worth the price of the ink with which it was written.”

Al-Azhar stressed that the martyrs of the Palestinian resistance were true resistance fighters who terrified their enemy and instilled fear and terror in their hearts. They were not terrorists, as the enemy tries to falsely and deceitfully portray them. Rather, they were steadfast resistance fighters who clung to the soil of their homeland until God granted them martyrdom while they were repelling the enemy’s plot and aggression, defending their land, their cause, and our cause; the cause of the Arabs and Muslims in the East and West of the earth.

Al-Azhar stressed "the importance of exposing the lies and deception of the Zionist media machine, and its attempt to distort the symbols of the Palestinian resistance in the minds of our youth and children, and to generalize their description as terrorists, stressing that resistance, defending the homeland, land and cause, and dying for it is an honor that is unmatched by any other honor."
