Yemeni Defense Minister Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Daari confirmed today, Thursday, that the international community's leniency towards the terrorist Houthi militia encouraged it to continue targeting commercial ships and threatening maritime navigation.
This came during his meeting with the US Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, and the Senior US Defense Representative at the Embassy, Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Peebles, to discuss the latest developments in the Yemeni arena, according to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba".
The meeting also addressed the continued attacks by the Houthi militia on the armed forces' sites, their continued threats and operations on maritime navigation routes, and their continued evasion of their commitments to achieve peace.
The Yemeni Minister of Defense said, "The international community's tolerance of the terrorist Houthi militia encouraged it to continue targeting commercial ships, threatening maritime navigation, and blackmailing the international community."
He stressed that the closest way to stop these threats is to support the capabilities of the armed forces and the government to carry out their constitutional and legal duties in completing the liberation of the areas under the control of the terrorist Houthi militia and imposing security and stability.
Lieutenant General Al-Daari also stressed that the various formations of the armed forces are working with a high level of coordination through the Joint Operations Authority affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, explaining that everyone is working towards one goal, which is to end the coup of the Houthi terrorist militia and restore state institutions.
For his part, the US Ambassador affirmed his country's support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.
The US Embassy in Yemen reported via the "X" platform that Ambassador Fagin met with Defense Minister Mohsen Al-Daari today to discuss bilateral cooperation in the security field and the importance of restoring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
