Bahah meets with Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister

Today, Tuesday, the Yemeni Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Khaled Bahah, discussed with the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, Ambassador Ismail Khairat, issues related to the situation of the Yemeni community in Egypt.

According to Saba News Agency, the two sides discussed the sudden increase in the prices of security approvals for those coming from inside and outside Yemen, which has reached an exaggerated level, and which adds additional burdens on those coming for medical and educational tourism purposes, in light of the difficult economic conditions experienced by the Yemeni people as a result of the war.

According to the agency, Ambassador Bahah reviewed the most prominent issues related to the Yemeni community, which have become challenges that must be solved appropriately, foremost among which is the process of registering and accepting Yemeni students in Egyptian private and international schools, which have begun to require the student to obtain an annual residency as a requirement for admission, while the normal procedure is that residency is granted to the student based on the academic record.

The meeting also discussed accelerating the mechanisms for operating flights between Al Rayyan and Cairo airports, to serve the eastern governorates of the country and facilitate travel procedures for citizens in need of medical and educational services or to move to third destinations.

In addition, Ambassador Bahah stressed, in the meeting, that Egypt was and will remain the first destination for all segments of the Yemeni people due to its historical connection in the conscience of all Yemenis. He pointed out that the embassy will work through all channels to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields, praising the distinguished relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

For his part, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt stressed that the Yemeni community has always been and will always remain welcome in their second country, Egypt, and that it is one of the best communities in terms of discipline and commitment to the laws of the Egyptian state. He pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will address all concerned parties to find urgent solutions to all the issues discussed in the meeting.
