Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Marib, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, called on Sunday on the International Committee of the Red Cross to conclude a deal to exchange all prisoners and abductees, in addition to visiting the abductees in Houthi prisons and enabling them to communicate with their families.
This came during his meeting with the head of operations of the International Committee of the Red Cross mission in Yemen, Freya Rady, and he discussed with her the committee's interventions and projects, the possibility of expanding them, and ways to enhance the humanitarian partnership with the committee during the next stage, according to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba".
During the meeting, the member of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the role of the International Committee of the Red Cross and its humanitarian interventions that covered various basic fields, in addition to its previous roles in prisoner exchange operations that took place in our country during the past years.
Al-Arda called on the committee to play a greater role in completing the deal to exchange all prisoners and abductees according to the principle of all for all, in addition to the Red Cross team visiting the detainees in the Houthi prisons and checking on their humanitarian and health conditions and providing them with the necessary support, and enabling them to communicate with their families.
He also welcomed the International Committee of the Red Cross's intention to expand its humanitarian interventions in the liberated governorates in general, and in Ma'rib Governorate in particular, as it accommodates more than 60 percent of the displaced in our country.
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed the need for humanitarian partners to focus on implementing sustainable projects of a developmental nature that alleviate the suffering of citizens and contribute to achieving recovery.
For her part, the Head of Operations of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Yemen, Freya Rady, appreciated the support provided by the member of the Leadership Council, Al-Arada, to the International Committee to facilitate the implementation of its interventions and humanitarian work, and his keenness to strengthen the humanitarian partnership with the Committee in Ma'rib Governorate and at the national level.
The official also informed Major General Al-Arada of the results of her meetings with a number of ministers in the government to discuss partnership in many humanitarian files in which the committee intervenes in Yemen.
She pointed out that her visit to Ma'rib Governorate aims to review the committee's projects and interventions, evaluate them, and discuss the possibility of expanding them according to the priorities of the local authority.
