Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Sheikh Othman Majali, confirmed today, Tuesday, that everyone is paying the price for preventing the legitimacy from liberating the port of Hodeidah from the terrorist Houthi militias supported by Iran.
This came during his meeting at the British Foreign Office with British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa Hamish Falconer, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, and the role played by Britain at the international level to enhance security and stability in Yemen, according to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba".
Majali praised Britain's role in addressing the humanitarian crises caused by the terrorist Houthi militia supported by the Iranian regime, noting that peace is the demand of the Yemeni people who are suffering the woes of the Houthi coup and its war on the state.
He said: "For the sake of peace, we went to all consultations, starting with Geneva 1 and Geneva 2, the Kuwait consultations, Stockholm and Dhahran Al-Janub in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and all the calls that achieve a just and comprehensive peace in Yemen according to international resolutions, an honorable peace that is honest in intentions and actions, that stops the bloodshed of our people and protects their rights and their right to live in peace."
Majali stressed that the Iranian destructive role has extended its harm to the region and the world by supplying the terrorist Houthi militias with weapons, ballistic missiles and drones, threatening commercial ships in the Red and Arabian Seas, obstructing the flow of food chains, and causing a global crisis.
Majali pointed out that the Houthi practices have recently extended to include workers in international and UN humanitarian organizations and embassy employees, whom the Houthis continue to kidnap and subject to the most severe forms of psychological and physical torture, disregarding the warnings and calls issued by embassies and international organizations to quickly release their employees, leaving the families of hundreds of kidnapped journalists and activists in a state of panic, fear and anxiety over the unknown fate of their children.
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council confirmed that the Houthis obstructed all prisoner exchange deals sponsored by the United Nations and the UN envoy, Hans Grundberg.
He said, "Everyone is paying the price for preventing the legitimacy from liberating the port of Hodeidah, which the Houthis have been using previously and currently for inhumane purposes, smuggling weapons, and turning it into an operations room to attack ships and disrupt international shipping in the Red Sea."
Majali also pointed out the importance of the role played by the brothers in the coalition to support legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which had a tangible impact in alleviating the suffering of the Yemenis by providing humanitarian and emergency aid and supporting the economy and national currency.
For his part, the British Minister stressed his country's keenness to continue working with international partners, neighboring countries and the region to combat terrorism and secure maritime navigation lines in the Red Sea, reiterating Britain's commitment to achieving sustainable peace in Yemen and supporting the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to improve the economic situation.
