A recent UN report stated that more than 17,600 Yemenis were displaced due to the ongoing conflict and disasters linked to climate change, during the past month.

The United Nations Population Fund ( UNFPA ) said in a new report that 2,519 families, consisting of 17,633 people, were forced to flee their original areas due to the ongoing armed conflict and climate change-related disasters in Yemen, during October 2024.

The report added that 80% of the total affected people were displaced due to climate-related crises and disasters, with a number of 2,020 families, while the continuation and escalation of the armed conflict was behind the displacement of about 20%, or 499 families.

The UN Fund stated that the Rapid Response Mechanism ( RRM ) it leads, with the support of a number of donors, was able to reach 17,458 people with urgent life-saving relief, which represents 99% of the total affected.

The report indicated that the aid distributed to affected families varied between multi-purpose cash assistance ( MPCA ), one-time general food aid, and emergency shelter.
