Five Houthi militia members, including a leader, were killed and injured today, Saturday, in clashes with tribal gunmen in Al Bayda Governorate (central Yemen).

Local sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that armed clashes broke out this morning in the city of Rada'a in Al Bayda Governorate, between gunmen from the "Al Abu Saleh" tribe and the Houthi militia.

The sources added that the clashes led to the death of a Houthi leader and the injury of four militia militants, while the sources did not mention any losses among the tribal militants.

She explained that the clashes erupted because the Houthis delayed the execution of one of their members who was involved in raping a child from the tribe, noting that a local mediation intervened to contain the situation, but the situation remains tense between the two sides.

Last Wednesday, the Rada’a Primary Court, under pressure from the tribes that surrounded the government complex, issued an urgent death sentence against the defendant (Abdul Karim Ahmed Salah Al-Amrani), accused of committing the crime of raping a child from the Al-Ghalis family in Rada’a Central Prison, while he was visiting his brother in prison.

Although the ruling is preliminary, the tribes and the militia agreed to implement the ruling today, Saturday. However, the militia backed down from the agreement today, and clashes erupted between the two sides as a result.

Last Sunday, Al-Amrani, a Houthi member in the central prison in Radaa, raped a child from the Al-Ghalis family. The incident sparked great popular anger within the tribe, which collapsed and besieged the government complex. This forced the militia to admit to the crime and hold an urgent trial for the accused, without indicating his connection to it.
