Three children died and others survived, in incidents related to the continuous torrential rains witnessed in Al Hudaydah Governorate (western Yemen).
The local authority media in Al-Khokha city (the temporary capital of the governorate in the legitimate government authorities) said that the continuous rains in the directorate caused human losses and extensive damage to property.
An official source in the directorate confirmed yesterday, Sunday, the death of three children, and the rescue of others after they fell into one of the ponds where rainwater had collected in the Shaab Nabaa area, north of Al-Khokha Directorate.
Two families escaped death after an old house collapsed in Al-Amisi neighborhood in the city center.
Meanwhile, a source in the Executive Unit for Displaced Persons Camps indicated that the Al-Wara and Abu Musa camps for displaced persons and the Eritrean refugee camp were damaged as a result of the continued rainfall, which destroyed much of their food and shelter supplies.
Since the beginning of August, Al Hudaydah Governorate and the rest of the Yemeni governorates have been witnessing heavy rains that have caused devastating floods that have claimed the lives of dozens and caused significant damage to homes, shelters, property and infrastructure.
