MASAM: 720 Houthi mines and ammunition removed in Yemen during the past week

The Masam Project for Mine Clearance in Yemen announced on Sunday that its mine clearance teams had removed 720 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices left behind by the Houthi militia in several Yemeni governorates during the past week.

The center said in a statement to its media center that the teams removed 720 landmines and unexploded ordnance last week, including three anti-personnel mines, 56 anti-tank mines, 647 unexploded ordnance, and 14 explosive devices, bringing the total number of explosive materials removed during last August to 1,390.

He added that during the same period (August 1-9), the project's demining teams cleared 200,107 square meters of Yemeni land.

With this result, the total number of mines removed since the beginning of the project in June 2018 until now has risen to 454,688 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, according to project statistics.
