The Houthi militias launched a large-scale kidnapping campaign against dozens of young people celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the glorious September 26 Revolution, in Ibb Governorate, central Yemen.

Tribal and local sources in Ibb Governorate said, "The Houthi militia began early on the eve of the anniversary a campaign to raid and kidnap a number of young men who defied them and celebrated the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution."

Sheikh Faisal Amin Abu Ras - brother of the head of the General People's Congress Party in Sana'a - said, "The Houthi militia kidnapped both Nashwan Abdo Abu Ras and Ammar bin Khaled Abu Ras, in addition to the sons of Hamdan bin Zaid Abu Ras."

Activists circulated video clips of armed men affiliated with the Houthi militia pursuing young activists to kidnap them after they defied its decision to ban the celebration, in a move to kidnap them.

Another local source in Al-Nadirah told "Yemeni Youth Net", "The Houthi militia opened fire in the directorate to disperse some of the celebrants who gathered to light the torch and begin the annual celebration they hold."

Houthi gunmen spread out at the entrances to rural villages in As-Saddah District and established new security points to pursue those celebrating the anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, according to what journalist Faris Al-Hamri reported.

The Houthi militia banned the celebration of the revolution anniversary, and deployed its elements in several governorates under its control. Yemenis celebrated in various ways, the most important of which were demonstrating in the directorates and villages of Ibb cities, setting fire to the roofs of houses and mountains, and launching fireworks into the air in the governorate center and directorates.
