King Salman Center Signs Agreement with WFP to Provide Food Aid to Yemen

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center announced today, Saturday, a joint cooperation agreement with the United Nations World Food Program to provide food aid to the neediest families in Yemen at a total cost of 25 million US dollars.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Donors Conference to Support Displaced Persons and Refugees in the Sahel and Lake Chad Region in Jeddah between Dr. Ziad Memish, Senior Advisor at the King Salman Center for Medical and Humanitarian Relief, and Karl Skow, Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Program and Executive Director of Operations, in the presence of Dr. Abdullah bin Al-Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and General Supervisor of the Center.
Under the agreement, food assistance will be provided through the distribution of 13,798 tons of basic food items, and support for resilience activities through the transfer of conditional amounts to participating families in the most needy to create assets and rehabilitate other assets to support the food value chain during 6 cycles, including the rehabilitation of agricultural lands, the construction of water barriers, and the provision of necessary equipment to fishermen.
King Salman Center stated that the agreement benefits 546,364 individuals directly, and 57,313 individuals indirectly in the governorates of Hodeidah, Al Dhale’e, Marib, Al Bayda, Hadhramaut, Al Mahrah, and Socotra.
