Rocks fall on a citizen's house in Mahwit
The death toll from the rockslide that occurred on Monday morning on a family home in a town in Al Mahwit Governorate has risen to 11 people, between dead and injured.
According to local sources, rocks fell on the house of citizen "Mohammed Hazam Al-Bars" in Bani Al-Khayat district, Al-Tawila directorate, resulting in the death of most of the family members, including children and grandchildren.
The sources reported that the residents began rescue attempts immediately after the accident, and a woman and a child who were outside the house at five in the morning, as they were checking on the livestock, survived.
Ambulance teams from the Yemeni Red Crescent Society in Al Mahwit Governorate arrived at the accident site to assist in the recovery of bodies.
In a post on Facebook, the head of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society branch in Al-Mahwit, Murshid Al-Ali, confirmed that the response teams had managed to retrieve six bodies so far.
He pointed out that one body is still missing under the rubble, while rescue teams continue their search operations with the help of civil defense and residents of the area.
