Traffic accidents claimed the lives of 21 people during the first half of this month, while 167 others were injured, 89 of whom were seriously injured.
Traffic statistics based on daily reports from the General Traffic Police Department showed that material losses amounted to 21 million and 100 thousand riyals, noting that the same period witnessed 191 traffic accidents in various liberated regions and governorates.
The Security Media Center stated that these accidents were distributed between 111 vehicle collisions, 56 pedestrian run-over accidents, 18 vehicle rollover accidents, 5 collisions with a fixed object, and 3 falls from a vehicle.
In a related context, the Ministry of Interior said on Saturday that the security services arrested 24 suspects and accused in various criminal cases and crimes in the governorates of Taiz, Aden, Marib, Hadramaut Coast, Al Mahrah, and Lahj.
The ministry stated in its daily report that the recorded crimes included 23 cases, distributed over multiple crimes, most notably 9 theft cases, 9 cases of minor intentional harm, 3 cases of breach of trust, and 2 cases of fraud and deception.
She noted that the average of 3 cases varied between a case of assault on the property of others, a case of serious intentional harm, and a case of disobedience to parents.
The Ministry of Interior report indicated that the necessary legal measures were taken against the accused, with follow-up continuing until the cases are referred to the Public Prosecution to complete the investigations.
