SAM Organization for Rights and Freedoms said that the Houthi coup militia issued a decision to imprison a woman from Tihama for 13 years on a fabricated charge of "espionage."

The organization stated that the Court of Appeal, which is under the control of the Houthi group in Sana'a, issued a 13-year prison sentence against "Hanan Shu'i Hassan Al-Muntasir" and her five children on charges of "espionage."

The organization explained on its official website that Hanan Al-Montaser did not enjoy any legal rights that would guarantee her a fair trial.

Al-Muntasir was arrested in early July 2019 from the Beit Bous neighborhood in central Sana’a. She was displaced from Al-Hodeidah governorate with her five children, one of whom was disabled, and she was working as a guard in a wedding hall, according to the organization.

SAM called on international organizations to exert maximum efforts to pressure the Houthi group to immediately release the detainee Hanan and guarantee her full rights, with the need to intensify monitoring of the violations committed by the group, with the aim of protecting the victims and holding the perpetrators accountable.
