40 days of fierce fighting.. Resistance ambushes pursue the occupation army in the alleys of Jabalia
Gaza| 13 November, 2024 - 2:50 PM
In just 24 hours, the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), carried out 10 ambushes and attacks on the Israeli occupation forces, most of them in Jabalia, in a clear indication of the ferocity of the resistance in the northern Gaza Strip.
The Qassam Brigades' operations varied between targeting Merkava tanks and D-9 military bulldozers with explosive devices, tandem missiles, and Al-Yassin 105 missiles, in addition to sniping a soldier and targeting a foot force with two anti-personnel missiles, killing and wounding its members.
An Israeli force of 7 soldiers inside a house was targeted with an anti-fortification "TPG" shell, and was "eliminated from zero distance with machine guns and hand grenades" near the Uli Al-Azm Mosque in Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip.
But the most prominent of these operations was the targeting of a Merkava tank by Qassam fighters with a "Yassin 105" shell, and then they boarded it, killed its crew, and seized a machine gun from it, near Al-Fakhoura School, west of Jabalia camp, according to what the brigades announced via Telegram.
These operations come after nearly 40 days of the Israeli military operation in the northern Gaza Strip, for which the occupation forces mobilized the 162nd Israeli Armored Division, supported by the 460th Armored Brigade and the Givati Brigade (special forces), an estimated 50,000 soldiers, with intensive air and artillery support and modern reconnaissance aircraft. Not a single day passed since the start of the battle without the Palestinian resistance carrying out several attacks on the occupation forces.
In its third military operation on Jabalia, the capital of the North Gaza Governorate, which was launched on October 5, the occupation army adopted the "scorched earth" method of random shelling, fire belts, and destroying buildings with robots and explosive barrels, in addition to besieging the population and preventing the entry of water and food with the aim of forcibly displacing the camp's residents and turning northern Gaza into a security buffer zone to achieve the Israeli "generals' plan."
During 39 days of horrific massacres against civilians, two thousand Palestinians were killed and hundreds were injured, in addition to hundreds of detainees. The violent bombing also caused the destruction of entire residential neighborhoods and the displacement of tens of thousands of Palestinians to the south, according to official Palestinian figures.
Despite the intensity of Israeli fire and its reliance on a new strategy, which is to besiege the Jabalia camp with an entire armored brigade, i.e. about 111 tanks, to prevent the Palestinian resistance in Gaza City and the towns of Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun from supporting Jabalia, the resistance succeeded in destroying dozens of Israeli tanks.
painful blows
According to a census conducted by Al Jazeera Net of Qassam military data during the period from October 5 to November 10, Qassam fighters carried out 121 military attacks on the occupation forces, despite the stifling Israeli siege and the violent bombardment that does not stop day and night, and the spread of swarms of drones in the skies of the region, which fire on anyone who moves.
Qassam fighters pursued the occupation soldiers in the Jabalia camp crisis through a series of complex ambushes, sniper operations, direct clashes, and the bombing of the houses in which they had taken refuge, in addition to blowing up tunnels and targeting them with anti-soldier and anti-fortification shells. They also succeeded in assassinating Colonel Ihsan Daqsa, commander of the Israeli 401st Armored Brigade.
Regarding military vehicles, Qassam hit 42 Merkava tanks, 25 personnel carriers, 24 military bulldozers, and 3 Hummer jeeps, after targeting them with "Yassin 105" shells, explosive devices, and tandem shells.
Qassam artillery units also shelled the occupation forces' crowds 8 times with mortar shells, in addition to shelling the Gaza envelope settlements 3 times with short-range 114 mm Rajum rockets.
Although the occupation army is keeping the real numbers of its losses secret, the Israeli media has reported the killing of 24 Israeli officers and soldiers in Jabalia since the start of the current military operation.
The military censorship allowed the publication of the names of 787 Israeli soldiers and officers killed since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip, including 373 Israeli soldiers and officers killed since the beginning of the ground incursion on October 27, 2023. In addition, 56 soldiers and officers were killed in operational and operational incidents and friendly fire.
The Israeli army admitted that 5,325 soldiers were injured with varying degrees of wounds since the beginning of the war, while the number of injuries in the army ranks since the beginning of the ground incursion into the Gaza Strip reached 2,420.
With the escalation of resistance attacks, the occupation forces were forced, after 25 days of fighting in the northern Gaza Strip, to withdraw the 460th Armored Brigade from Jabalia. They also redeployed forces in northern Gaza, where they withdrew their forces from residential neighborhoods and were content with besieging the area from all sides, while intensifying their aerial and artillery bombardment of Jabalia, according to the Israeli Army Radio.
After a month of fighting, the occupation forces deployed the Kfir Brigade, one of the largest infantry brigades in the Israeli army, which includes several battalions and elite military units described as specializing in warfare within urban and complex areas.
Operational miracle
"What the Palestinian resistance is doing in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip is an operational miracle and remarkable genius," said military and strategic expert Major General Mohammed Al-Samadi, commenting on the Qassam ambushes in northern Gaza, considering that their success in confronting the occupation army despite the difference in military capabilities represents an exceptional tactical victory.
Al-Samadi explained, in his analysis of the military scene on Al Jazeera, that the battle of Jabalia is taking place under harsh conditions, as Palestinian fighters face armored brigades such as the 401st and 460th brigades, and the Givati Brigade, which is supported by intensive air and artillery support and modern reconnaissance aircraft.
He added that the camp is completely besieged and separated from the city of Jabalia, and despite this, the resistance continues its successful operations in light of the steadfastness of the popular incubator that is facing annihilation by the occupation army.
Commenting on the military tactics of the occupation army, Al-Samadi explained that it relies on the "scorched earth" method in its repeated attempts to invade Jabalia camp. He said that the army used all its methods during more than two weeks of battles, such as random shelling, the policy of fire belts, and the destruction of buildings.
Al-Samadi says that despite this, the Palestinian resistance is still able to adapt to these tactics by fighting in small groups that use the available opportunities to snipe at occupation soldiers and launch surprise attacks.
Al-Samadi pointed out that the Jabalia camp, which covers an area of 1.4 square kilometers, is a model of Palestinian steadfastness in the face of Israeli military force.
