118 Palestinians were killed, and dozens of others were injured and missing in Israeli shelling that targeted buildings and residential units in the northern and central Gaza Strip governorates during the past hours.

This came in two separate statements issued by the government media office in the Strip, in which it said that 84 Palestinians were martyred in the past hours, when Israel bombed residential buildings belonging to the Shalayel and Al-Ghandour families in the northern Strip, in addition to the martyrdom of 34 others when it bombed homes and residential units in Al-Nuseirat in the central governorate.

In the first statement, the government office said that “84 Palestinians were martyred, including more than 50 children, and dozens of others were injured and missing, during the past hours, in two brutal massacres by Israeli bombing that targeted residential buildings belonging to the Shalayel and Al-Ghandour families in the northern Gaza Strip, which include more than 170 civilians,” stressing that this comes “in the context of the crime of genocide, the crime of ethnic cleansing and the ongoing war of extermination.”

The statement explained that the Israeli army “is singling out civilian families whose residential buildings (consisting of several floors) are inhabited by civilians and displaced persons,” noting that this comes “in conjunction with the absence of civil defense crews, medical services, or relief crews, in light of their targeting and being taken out of service by the Israeli occupation for nearly a whole month.”

This also comes, according to the statement, “in conjunction with the occupation’s collapse of the health system in the northern Gaza Strip governorate and the destruction of hospitals and their removal from service.”

On October 5, the Israeli army began an unprecedented bombardment of areas in the northern Gaza Strip, before invading them the next day under the pretext of “preventing Hamas from regaining its strength,” while the Palestinians say that Israel wants to occupy the area and displace them.

This operation caused the health system to go out of service, according to statements by government officials, in addition to stopping the work of the Civil Defense and ambulances of the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Despite this, the three main hospitals in the governorate, “Kamal Adwan, Indonesian, and Al-Awda,” are trying to operate with minimal resources and one or two doctors, and in light of the depletion of their stock of medicines and medical supplies, to provide the minimum service to the wounded and sick.

These conditions are exacerbated by the isolation imposed by the Israeli army on the governorate by cutting off its communications and internet network.

In the central governorate, the government office said on Friday evening, “The occupation army is bombing dozens of homes and residential units in the new camp in Nuseirat with warplanes, and has been committing horrific massacres for the past 24 hours, killing 34 martyrs and dozens of wounded and missing people.”

He added: "These crimes come within the framework of the crime of genocide and the war of ethnic cleansing waged by the occupation against civilian neighborhoods, displaced persons, children and women, and in conjunction with the great suffering experienced by the health situation in the central governorate."

In the two statements, the government office called on the international community and international and UN organizations to “exercise their humanitarian role by protecting civilians, hospitals and health institutions, and by pressuring to stop the genocide in the Strip.” It called on the world to condemn these “horrific massacres against the displaced, civilians, children and women.”

He held Israel, the US administration, Britain and other countries that he said were partners in the genocide “responsible for the continuation of the war of ethnic cleansing, the war of extermination and genocide and the continuation of committing these massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip, especially in the northern governorate.”

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with absolute American support, has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, leaving more than 145,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.

Israel continues its massacres, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end them immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
