The Central Bank of Yemen announced today, Sunday, the opening of an auction to sell fifty million US dollars, next Thursday, August 22.
The conditions for participating in the auction included submitting bids using the Refinitiv electronic platform, while banks that do not have access to the Refinitiv platform will have the Central Bank submit bids on their behalf based on an official request submitted to the Central Bank via the email designated for this purpose during the auction period mentioned above.
The announcement also stipulated that the bid amount in the auction should be in multiples of one thousand dollars, and that the total bids submitted by each participant should not exceed 30% of the total value of the auction.
This auction is the first since the bank reversed its decisions regarding a number of banks under Houthi control, after the UN agreement to de-escalate the situation between the government and the Houthis.
