Closing of exchange shops in Shabwa
On Monday, the Public Funds Prosecution in Shabwa Governorate, in cooperation and coordination with the Central Bank branch in the governorate, and the General Department of Security and Police in the governorate, launched an inspection campaign for exchange shops that violate the law.
The director of the Central Bank branch in the province, Saleh Fadaq, stressed the importance of this campaign in protecting the national currency and saving it from collapse, noting the danger of ignoring the exchange and money laundering law.
The campaign witnessed the closure of many money exchange shops in the city of Ataq that violated the law, did not have a license to practice the profession, or whose licenses had expired, and refused to accept some denominations of the national currency or imposed excessive cash commissions on them.
It is noteworthy that the campaign comes in implementation of the directives of the Council of Ministers to intensify inspection campaigns against violating exchange shops in the liberated governorates, in light of the continued deterioration of the national currency against foreign currencies.
