The villages of eastern Al-Jazeera witnessed widespread violations by the Rapid Support Forces following battles with the Sudanese army and the Mustafinir (popular support elements), in which the Rapid Support Forces took control of the city of Tamboul on October 22, and then launched attacks on a number of villages in eastern Al-Jazeera.

According to Al Jazeera Conference, the death toll in the city of Tamboul has exceeded 300, including women and children, and the bodies lying on the roads are making it difficult to conduct an accurate count so far, as citizens have left the city.

Fighting erupted in Sudan in mid-April 2023 between the army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is also the head of the Sovereignty Council and the country's de facto ruler, and the Rapid Support Forces led by his ally and former deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Hemeti.

The war in Sudan has left tens of thousands dead, displaced more than 10 million people, and caused - according to the United Nations - one of the worst humanitarian crises in modern history.
