Yemeni activists and media professionals launched a broad media campaign on Wednesday evening to confront the Houthis’ systematic targeting of the educational process in the country.

A number of academics and educators called on the Presidential Leadership Council to urgently direct the holding of a national conference to preserve the Yemeni identity from the booby-trapped ideas that the terrorist Houthi militias are working to spread.

Director of the Education Office in Hajjah Governorate, Abdullah Al-Hayrani, said that hundreds of students enrolled in schools have not found a curriculum since last year, in light of the lack of curricula in the besieged areas, north of Hajjah Governorate.

A decision issued recently by the Director of Al-Shamayateen District, Abdul Aziz Al-Shaibani, to dismiss the Director of the Education Office in the district, has raised concerns among many regarding its violation of the law, in addition to its issuance at a suspicious time, coinciding with the Education Office’s imminent implementation of a project funded by UNICEF to advance education in the district.

The Egyptian authorities closed 15 schools that housed more than 6,000 students from the Yemeni community residing in Egypt.

Today, Tuesday, the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, directed the disbursement of two months’ salary to education contractors in the governorate.
