The United States has imposed new sanctions on individuals, companies and vessels linked to the network of Saeed al-Jamal, who resides in Iran and manages funds for the Houthi group and facilitates the smuggling of weapons and oil with the support of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The Yemeni Shura Council on Tuesday condemned the sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department on Member of Parliament and businessman Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar and a number of his companies, calling on the Yemeni government to follow up on the issue diplomatically to review the decision.

The Authority stressed that the attempt to silence a parliamentarian like Sheikh Al-Ahmar is not acceptable to the House of Representatives or the Yemeni people, calling on the US Treasury to reconsider it urgently.

The political parties warned against any bowing before the terrorism of international blackmail aimed at forcing supporters of the Palestinian cause to abandon it in one way or another.

The Islah Party called on the US Treasury to cancel this unjust and biased decision, which targeted a national figure with a long record of political and struggle history locally and regionally, and who stands with the main issues of the Arab and Islamic nations.

On Wednesday, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on four companies and two individuals, which it said were part of Houthi weapons purchasing networks in Hong Kong and Yemen.
