The Presidency of the Yemeni House of Representatives called on the US Treasury Department today, Thursday, to reconsider its decision to impose sanctions against Council member Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar and his institutions.
The Presidency of the Parliament said in a statement, a copy of which was received by "Yemeni Youth Net": "We received with great regret the US Treasury Department's impersonal measures issued on the 7th of this month against institutions affiliated with Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar, a member of the House of Representatives and a member of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, and allegations against Sheikh Al-Ahmar, which he categorically denies, and which are related to the Palestinian issue."
The statement explained that "the Palestinian cause, which the Americans themselves and the entire world know that the Arabs, Muslims, free people of the world, and all those who believe in truth and justice sympathize with, and reject what is happening in Gaza in terms of war, destruction, demolition of homes and property, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and the prevention of food and medicine, as well as what is happening in Lebanon now in terms of war in the same manner."
The statement indicated that university students in the United States, Europe and the rest of the world, as well as many citizens of those countries, had a clear position condemning what happened in Gaza and Rafah, as is the case in the Arab world.
The statement stressed that the attempt to silence a parliamentarian like Sheikh Al-Ahmar is not accepted by the House of Representatives or the Yemeni people, calling on the US Treasury to reconsider it urgently.
He stressed that the Palestinians' right to security, peace and self-determination on the basis of the two-state solution is something the world has recognized, and it is no longer possible after these sacrifices to deny the Palestinian cause or punish its supporters and those keen on international security, peace and the achievement of justice.
He stressed that the Presidency of the House of Representatives has assigned the government to follow up on the issue through diplomatic channels to communicate with the US administration in order for the Treasury Department to reverse this decision and not allow harm to the institutions or entities affiliated with Sheikh Hamid Al-Ahmar and his family that were included in the decision and to correct the error.
On Wednesday, Sheikh Al-Ahmar said in a statement that the unjustified decision issued by the US Treasury Department to include him on the sanctions list is another example of the blatant US bias in favor of injustice and occupation, and expresses an illegitimate attempt to criminalize the modest legal and humanitarian efforts that I am making in support of the just cause of the Palestinian people.
He pointed out that this decision contradicts all international norms and laws that affirm the right of peoples to resist occupation and achieve freedom. It also reflects the frustration with the efforts that I and other free people are making to support human rights and reject injustice in Palestine.
He added, "I affirm that my efforts are fully consistent with the laws, positions and commitments of my country, Yemen, and the noble Yemeni people towards the Palestinian cause, and with the principles stipulated in the United Nations Charter, international law and decisions of international courts."
Al-Ahmar held the US administration "responsible for its rejected and condemned decision and the resulting damages that may befall me, my family and my business," stressing that he will take the necessary legal measures to appeal this decision before the competent judicial bodies, as it is an unjust decision and not based on any legal or moral basis.
He stressed that "this classification will not deter me from continuing my steadfast support for the just Palestinian cause, and I will continue, God willing and with His help, to stand by the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle against the occupation and against its horrific crimes that have stirred the human conscience and produced an unprecedented international solidarity movement that included all countries of the world and exposed the allegations of the Western powers (..)."

Praise be to God and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of God
In these difficult moments that Gaza and Palestine are going through, as they are exposed to an ongoing war of extermination led by the Israeli occupation, with unlimited military and political support from the United States of America and some Western powers, we see horrific scenes of destruction...
Al-Ahmar also stressed that "solidarity with the Palestinian cause is not a crime, but rather a human and legal duty imposed on us by moral principles, heavenly laws, and international covenants. The Palestinian cause is a cause of freedom and justice, and it is one of the most prominent human rights issues in the modern era."
Last Monday, the US Treasury Department announced sanctions against Al-Ahmar and nine of his companies, as part of a package of sanctions that also included three Arab businessmen for financing the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas.
