Mohamed Salah leads Liverpool to victory over Bologna, Benfica crushes Atletico Madrid with four goals

Egyptian Mohamed Salah led Liverpool to a 2-0 win over Bologna, while Benfica crushed Portuguese Atletico Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday evening in the Champions League.

Liverpool achieved its second consecutive victory in the new edition of the UEFA Champions League, beating its guest, Bologna, Italy, 2-0, in the league stage.

Salah became the first Liverpool player to score at Anfield in 5 consecutive Champions League matches, after the "Pharaoh" scored in 4 matches at his team's home ground during his previous season 2022-2023, noting that Liverpool participated in the European League "Europa League" last season.

Liverpool, the league leaders, started their campaign in the new version of the main continental competition with a valuable 3-1 victory over AC Milan at home, while Bologna fell into a goalless draw against Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine.

Benfica raised its score to 6 points, achieving full marks in its two matches, which it played after defeating Serbian Red Star in the first round, and it will play in the next round at home against Dutch Feyenoord.

As for Atletico Madrid, its score froze at 3 points after a difficult victory over Leipzig with a score of 2/1 in the first round, and it will play against Lille of France in Madrid in the third round.

Dinamo Zagreb draw with Monaco

In another match, Monaco came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with hosts Dinamo Zagreb on a rainy night after Denis Zakaria scored for the visitors from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.

After suffering a crushing 9-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in their opening match, the Croatian side looked set to stage a comeback before Mohammed Salisu headed home from a corner eight minutes from time and Monaco were awarded a penalty.

Zakaria succeeded in scoring from the penalty mark, raising Monaco's score to four points after beating Barcelona in its opening match of the tournament, thus maintaining the French team's record free of defeats this season.
