The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced on Sunday that US fighter jets launched several airstrikes on Saturday night on advanced weapons storage facilities belonging to the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, according to Agence France-Presse.
A US defense official said the weapons were used to attack military and civilian ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Earlier last night, local residents told Yemen Youth Net that the capital, Sana'a, witnessed several raids targeting the areas of "Al-Hafa and Al-Nahdain."
According to witnesses, several explosions shook the targeted areas as a result of the bombing.
For its part, the Houthi militia counted 10 air raids that it said were launched by "American-British" aircraft last night and this morning on several locations in the capital and the neighboring governorates of Sana'a and Amran.
Al-Masirah Houthi channel reported that the fighters targeted the Al-Nahdain and Al-Hafa areas in the Al-Sab’een district in the capital, Sana’a, with four raids, four raids on the Jarban area in the Sanhan district in Sana’a governorate, and two raids on the Sufyan district in Amran governorate.
This came just weeks after intensive US raids, in which B-2 strategic bombers participated for the first time, targeting Houthi military facilities fortified underground, containing missiles, weapons components and other munitions used to target military and civilian ships, according to the US military.
Since the beginning of this year, the United States of America has been launching air strikes targeting the Houthi military capabilities, in response to the attacks launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on cargo ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which it says are in support of Gaza, which has been subjected to an Israeli war of extermination since the beginning of October 2023.
