The website quoted a private source based in Washington - who requested anonymity - as saying that US forces have recently monitored sites for storing and launching missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles by the Houthis in a number of governorates, most notably the coastal cities of Hodeidah and Hajjah on the Red Sea (western Yemen) and Saada, the main stronghold of the group’s leader (north), in addition to the capital Sanaa, which has been under the group’s control since the fall of 2014.

The source added that the Pentagon had completed its preparations to launch a large-scale military strike on those Houthi sites and camps, before postponing the operation until the end of the electoral race in the United States.

He pointed out that the announcement of the "National Coalition of Local Parties and Forces" supporting the internationally recognized government from the city of Aden, the country's temporary capital, on Tuesday, which received support from the US administration, specifically from the State Department and at its behest, regarding the timing of its announcement.

The source confirmed that Washington wants any military operation it may intend to carry out against the Houthi group to have the support of the forces opposing it.

On Tuesday, 23 Yemeni parties and components announced a new political coalition called the “National Bloc of Yemeni Parties” in the context of arrangements to form a unified front of forces supporting and backing the internationally recognized Yemeni government and opposing the Houthi group.
