In a related context, our country's ambassador to Turkey, Mohammed Turik, today, during his meeting in Ankara with the Director General of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Rıza Demirer, requested urgent support to confront the effects of the floods that have been hitting the country for months.

Ambassador Tariq handed the Turkish official a report on the extent of the humanitarian disaster that struck Yemen during the past months due to heavy rains and floods, which caused the demolition of homes, the erosion of agricultural lands, and caused significant damage to the basic infrastructure.

Ambassador Tariq touched on the catastrophic natural effects that struck the Yemeni governorates and the international interventions required to support the government's efforts. He pointed out the urgent need to provide relief and humanitarian support, medicine, and to restore some of the homes destroyed by the floods and provide shelter for more than fifty thousand Yemeni families, as well as to build urgent health centers and support them with medicines and urgent support from Turkish associations and organizations.

For his part, the Turkish official confirmed that Yemen is of great interest to Turkey, expressing his country's readiness to meet Yemen's urgent needs, according to the official Saba Agency.

Since last March, Yemen has been witnessing seasonal rains and heavy floods that have caused human losses and significant material damage to infrastructure and citizens’ property, and have inflicted significant damage to homes and shelters of residents and displaced persons.
