Ibb.. Signs of tribal clashes in Al-Shaer District due to a dispute over a road fed by the Houthi militia

Al-Sha'ir District, east of Ibb Governorate (central Yemen), is witnessing tribal tension between two families, following a dispute over a road fueled by the terrorist Houthi militia.

Local sources told "Yemeni Youth Net" that a dispute broke out between the "Al-Shahbin" family and the "Ubayya" family in the Al-Amluk district of Al-Sha'ir district over the construction of a road that expatriates from the latter are seeking to construct with the support and protection of the Houthi militia on lands owned by the former family.

The sources added that expatriates from the "Abaya" family began paving a road through the property of the "Shahbin" family in the village of "Al-Sharahiyyin" under the name of a community initiative, which is what prompted the sons of the "Shahbin" family and those in solidarity with them from the village to stand up to the paving operations.

The sources stated that the director of the directorate, the director of security of the directorate, and security leaders in the militia authorities in the governorate stand by the "Abaya" family and protect the road construction operations after they received large financial bribes.

The sources indicated that the militia kidnapped a large number of dignitaries and residents of the village of "Al-Sharihiyyin" on the grounds of their rejection of the division operation.

The sources pointed out that the region is witnessing tension and mobilization between the two sides, which may lead to armed confrontations, especially with the militia's continued bias towards one party at the expense of the other and protecting the road construction process, which has an alternative and paved road funded by the residents.

Notables from the directorate called for the intervention of wise people to contain the situation, demanding that the militia authorities stop igniting the fire of sedition in the region.

Ibb Governorate is witnessing an increasing escalation in local conflicts related to land, amid the Houthi militia’s fueling of these conflicts, which usually result in deaths and injuries.
