The Monitoring Center for Rights and Development revealed that the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militias committed more than 12,557 violations in Al Bayda Governorate during the period from January 2015 to July 2024.
Under the title “Life of Oppression,” the center said in its fifth periodic report that it had monitored and documented the killing of 693 civilians, the injury of 713 others, including women and children, 2,950 cases of arrest and kidnapping, 421 cases of threats, abuse, and prevention of movement, more than 6,516 cases of displacement and eviction, and more than 1,280 cases of violations of private and public property.
The center also documented in its report that more than 6,516 people fled the fighting. It indicated that more than 400,000 people are in dire need of humanitarian aid and protection, which represents 58 percent of the governorate's population. It confirmed that the Houthi militias continue to commit serious violations against civilians, infrastructure, and public and private property, which has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis.
The Monitoring Center for Rights and Development noted that thousands of civilians face risks to their safety and basic rights, as a result of the militia’s continued crimes against them.
In its report, the center called for an end to attacks, indiscriminate shelling, planting of mines and explosive devices, and for investigations, accountability and punishment of those responsible for killing, injuring and attacking property and objects. It called for urgent international action to protect civilians.
